DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 20 TO 26, 1975, AND THE THIRD WEEK OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER, AS “NATIONAL CANCER CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., is launching on the third week of January 1975 an all-out national education campaign on the treatment and effective control of cancer, some types of which are preventable and even curable if detected early enough; and

WHEREAS, there is necessity to arouse public awareness on the dangers of this dreaded disease and on cancer prevention and control;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from January 20 to 26, 1975, and the third week of January of every year thereafter, as “National Cancer Consciousness Week” under the auspices of the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., the Department of Health and all involved organizations.1aшphi1
