[ Proclamation No. 1327, October 3, 1974 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 8 TO 14 OF EVERY YEAR AS STANDARDS WEEK

WHEREAS, the International Organization for Standardization (IOS), of which the Philippines is an active member, has declared October 14 of every year as “World Standards Day;”

WHEREAS, standardization has greatly helped in accelerating the economic growth of nations through the formulation of commodity standards that encourage a more profitable exchange of goods in both global and local markets; and

WHEREAS, there exists a continuing need to instill standards-consciousness among producers and especially consumers in order to hasten the attainment of national development goals;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERTO V. REYES, Acting Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from October 8 to 14 of each year as Standards Week. I enjoin all residents, business firms and manufacturers, as well as civic, educational, religious and government institutions to celebrate the Week appropriately.1aшphi1

I authorize the Philippines Bureau of Standards of the Department of Trade to take charge of the celebration of Standards Week.
