[ Proclamation No. 1308, August 27, 1974 ]

DECLARING SEPTEMBER 9 TO 15, 1974, AND THE SAME PERIOD EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER, AS “POSTAL CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the post office, being the largest, farthest-reaching, and most widely used means of communication in the Philippines today, is a vital instrument of the Government in its efforts to improve the social, economic and cultural development of the country and its people;

WHEREAS, the Bureau of Posts can be more effective in its assigned role if it is given the needed cooperation by the public in so far as those problems which can be alleviated by public cooperation and involvement are concerned; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to generate among the public the spirit of cooperation and involvement with the Bureau of Posts so that the said Bureau may be more effective in its role to bridge the communications barriers;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare September 9 to 15, 1974, and the same period of every year thereafter, as “POSTAL CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK” throughout the country.

I enjoin all people of the Philippines to extend their full support for all programs and activities that may be held in observance of the “Postal Consciousness Week.1aшphi1
