PROCLAIMING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 15 TO 21, 1974 AS “UNIVERSAL FRIENDSHIP WEEK”

WHEREAS, the cultivation and promotion of friendly relations with all countries is one of the hallmarks of Philippine foreign policy;

WHEREAS, the 1974 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant will be held in the Philippines, bringing together people from many nations;

WHEREAS, the holding of the Pageant in the Philippines will provide a golden opportunity to promote friendly relations with other countries;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby proclaim the period from July 15 to 21, 1974 as “UNIVERSAL FRIENDSHIP WEEK.”

ACCORDINGLY, I appeal to all Filipinos from all walks of life to cooperate to the fullest extent with the government in extending to all foreign visitors the traditional Filipino hospitality and assistance.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
