[ Proclamation No. 1279, June 19, 1974 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE TUBERCULOSIS SOCIETY, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1974

WHEREAS, tuberculosis persists to harass a large segment of our population, continues to hinder the growth of the national economy and thwarts the social uplift of the masses;

WHEREAS, the urgency of controlling tuberculosis is vital to the improvement of the general public’s health and is a prerequisite to the conquest of poverty in the New Society; and

WHEREAS, only the unremitting moral and financial support of the entire nation can accelerate the concerted efforts of the National Government and the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. in intensifying material amelioration and medical relief to indigent victims of the disease;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., to conduct its national educational and fund campaign during the period from July 1 to December 31, 1974.

I call upon all government officials, military personnel, private and public school authorities and students, business and industrial establishments, and all citizens and residents of the Philippines regardless of nationality or creed, to support actively and give generously of their means to the Anti-TB cause so as to hasten control of this impoverishing and highly communicable disease and thereby minimize human suffering amongst the poor who, in our humane and compassionate community, need not be underprivileged nor abandoned.
