[ Proclamation No. 1278, June 18, 1974 ]

AUTHORIZING THE ORDER OF THE KNIGHTS OF RIZAL TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL RIZAL MEMORIAL CENTER FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 19, 1974 TO JUNE 19, 1975

WHEREAS, the Order of the Knights of Rizal which was chartered under Republic Act No. 646 teaches, propagates and disseminates the ideals and teachings of our national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal;

WHEREAS, the Order of the Knights of Rizal is maintaining various activities designed to propagate and disseminate the ideas and teachings of the national hero and perpetuate for emulation his exemplary way of life;

WHEREAS, to facilitate its patriotic objectives and noble endeavors, the order of the Knights of Rizal was given by the Republic of the Philippines a site for a proposed Rizal Memorial Center;

WHEREAS, the Rizal Memorial Center will greatly honor the hero’s memory and also house a library and museum which shall serve as a metropolitan center for all activities, programs, seminars symposia, conventions and celebrations commemorative of our country’s foremost martyr and hero; and

WHEREAS, the Order of the Knights of Rizal needs financial assistance from all sectors of the country to enable it to construct the Rizal Memorial Center to honor the memory of our national hero and serve as the metropolitan center for all activities commemorative of him;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Order of the Knights of Rizal to conduct a nationwide Rizal Memorial Center fund campaign during the period from June 19, 1974, to June 19, 1975. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of race and creed, to support the campaign.
