[ Proclamation No. 1276, June 14, 1974 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 22 TO JUNE 29 AS PROFESSIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK

WHEREAS, all segments of Philippine society have a role to play in national development and in the advance of the New Society;

WHEREAS, professionals as a group form one of these segments, and because of their thorough preparation and expertise are a distinct segment of society which must bear a heavier portion of the responsibility and the burden of nation-building;

WHEREAS, in recognition of this role of the professionals in the New Society, the President issued on June 22, 1973 Presidential Decree No. 223 creating the Professional Regulation Commission;

WHEREAS, in further recognition of this role of this professionals in nation-building the President deems it fit to honor and acknowledge their invaluable service to and support of the New Society;

WHEREAS, the President deems it further fit to uphold the spirit of professionalism as the goal towards which all non-professional workers should strive, meaning excellence and thoroughness in whatever job a person is engaged;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from June 22 to June 29, 1974 as Professional Consciousness Week under the auspices of the Professional Regulation Commission.
