DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 22 TO 26, 1974, AND THE THIRD WEEK OF OCTOBER OF EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER, AS “MIDWIFERY WEEK”

WHEREAS, midwives as members of health teams contribute to the task of nation building by promoting maternal and child health practices; and

WHEREAS, the promotion of maternal and child health fits into the goals of the New Society which demands of every citizen full contribution to national development goals;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from October 22 to 26, 1974, and the third week of October of every year thereafter as Midwifery Week.
