[ Proclamation No. 1272, June 4, 1974 ]

EXCLUDING FROM THE OPERATION OF PROCLAMATION NO. 618 DATED OCTOBER 13, 1969, WHICH RESERVED FOR NATIONAL SHRINE PURPOSES A CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND OF THE PRIVATE DOMAIN SITUATED IN THE BARRIO OF BARAS, MUNICIPALITY OF PALO, PROVINCE OF LEYTE AND RESERVING THE SAME FOR THE PROVINCE OF LEYTE.

By virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 618 dated October 13, 1969, which withdrew from sale or settlement and reserved for national shrine purposes under the administration of the National Shrines Commission a certain parcel of land of the private domain (generally referred to as “Red Beach,” the landing point of General Douglas MacArthur and the liberating forces) situated in Barrio of Baras, Municipality of Palo, Province of Leyte, Philippines, by limiting the area for the National Shrine to 67,825 square meters or 6.78 hectares, consisting of a rectangular portion for the Leyte Landing Memorial and lagoon at the center of the original reservation as indicated by the Site Development Plan prepared by the College of Architecture and Institute of Planning of the University of the Philippines, in collaboration with the Urban Designers Association, Inc., and transferring the remainder of the original reservation to the Province of Leyte for the establishment of the Government Center, Provincial Capital Complex and Regional Center for Region VIII, subject to private rights, if any there be, the technical description of which, after survey, shall be deemed an integral part of this Proclamation.
