DECLARING JUNE 4 TO 12, 1974, AS THE PERIOD TO CELEBRATE THE 76TH ANNIVERSARY OF PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE.

WHEREAS, June 12, 1974, marks the 76th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence;

WHEREAS, the celebration of this 76th anniversary of Philippine Independence is a proper occasion to again make a reaffirmation of our continuing commitment to the ideals that had set afire the hearts and minds of our people and united them in nation building; and

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper to ensure a nationwide awareness and involvement in the celebration of this significant milestone in the history of the Republic and to project the goals and objectives of the New Society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare June 4 to 12, 1974, as the period to celebrate the 76th anniversary of Philippine Independence and hereby direct the Committee created under Executive Order No. 426 dated April 1, 1974, to undertake an integrated program to carry out the successful observance of this occasion, and I enjoin all levels of the government — national, provincial, city, municipal and barrio — and the ecumenical church, all schools and civic and business organizations to cooperate and actively participate.
