[ Proclamation No. 1258, April 26, 1974 ]

AUTHORIZING THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES COLLEGE OF LAW ALUMNI FOUNDATION, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN FROM 26 APRIL TO 31 DECEMBER 1974.

WHEREAS, the new Constitution provides that the State shall establish and maintain a complete, adequate, and integrated system of education relevant to the goals of national development;

WHEREAS, the Educational Development Decree of 1972 proclaims that the policy of the government shall be to ensure, within the context of a free and democratic system, maximum contribution of the educational system to the attainment of national development goals;

WHEREAS, pursuant to both these provisions, the University of the Philippines College of Law Alumni Foundation, Inc., a non-stock, non-profit corporation, was organized;

WHEREAS, the primary purpose of the Foundation is to promote research and development projects and to establish scholarships or professorial chairs in order to foster the improvement of fundamental work and economic evaluation in the fields of law and public administration;

WHEREAS, the secondary purpose of the Foundation is to publish the results of its research and development projects; to improve libraries; and to maintain institutions doing research of all kinds in the fields of law and public administration;

WHEREAS, these laudable purposes of the Foundation can be attained only if the entire nation extends it maximum moral and financial support;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the University of the Philippines College of Law Alumni Foundation, Inc. to conduct its first national fund campaign during the period from 26 April to 31 December 1971.

I call upon all alumni of the College of Law and of the other colleges of the University of the Philippines, corporate officials, leaders of business and industry, government officials, military personnel, public and private school authorities and students, and all citizens and residents of the Philippines, to support and give generously of their means to the University of the Philippines College of Law Alumni Foundation, Inc. so as to enchance the fields of law and public administration in the New Society.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
