DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 12 TO 18, 1974, AND THE SECOND WEEK OF MAY OF EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS “SECRETARIES WEEK.”

WHEREAS, our country is in a stage of economic growth today that to sustain and hasten such growth would require the productive efforts of all segments of our society;

WHEREAS, the career women in commerce and industry—a great number of whom are secretaries—constitute one such segment who can augment our collective endeavors toward attaining business progress and industrial development; and

WHEREAS, it would be well then to apprise our people of the role that secretaries play in nation-building for their professional activities do much to; facilitate communications and accelerate transactions in business;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from May 12 to 18, 1974, and the second week of May of every year thereafter, as ”Secretaries Week,” in acknowledgment of the contributions of the secretarial profession as well as to inspite these career women to achieve more for the business community and, ultimately for the New Society.
