DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MARCH 25 to 30, 1974 as “CHEMISTRY WEEK”

WHEREAS, the fundamental concepts of Chemistry are basic to the understanding and control, and the many processes of human life;

WHEREAS, Chemistry is utilized in all phases of the nation’s economy;

WHEREAS, the transformations involved in increasing industrial and agricultural productivity, as well as in the development- and utilization of natural resources are essentially chemical;

WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon us to promote science consciousness and the utilization of Chemistry by our masses; and

WHEREAS, the general use of Chemistry is one important means of attaining the objectives of the New Society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from March 25 to 30, 1974 as “CHEMISTRY WEEK” throughout the country and hereby direct the KAPISANAN NG MGA KIMIKO SA PILIPINAS (Chemical Society of the Philippines, Inc.) and all other organizations of chemists affiliated to said society to take charge of promoting and enhancing the development of Chemistry in the Philippines and to undertake such activities as may be necessary to ensure the fitting observance of the occasion.
