MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Proclamation No. 1236, February 12, 1974 ] DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 1 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1974, AS FITNESS THROUGH WEIGHTLIFTING PERIOD AND AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE WEIGHTLIFTING ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT A FUND DRIVE DURING SAID PERIOD. WHEREAS, weightlifting is one of the sports events in which the Philippines has shone and gained medals in world competitions; WHEREAS, the Philippines will host the 28th World Weightlifting Championship where 40 countries will participate; WHEREAS, weightlifting as a physical fitness regimen merits broader support and more active participation by the people; WHEREAS, the Philippines will host the 28th World Weightlifting Championship where 40 countries will participate from September 21 to 29, 1974.1aшphi1 NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from February 1 to September 30, 1974, as Fitness Through Weightlifting Period and authorize the Philippine Weightlifting Association to conduct a fund drive during the same period.
