MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Proclamation No. 1234, February 11, 1974 ] DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MARCH 18 TO 24 1974, AS SOFTBALL WEEK AND AUTHORIZING THE ATHLETIC SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES TO CONDUCT A FUND DRIVE FROM FEBRUARY 1 TO MARCH 15, 1974. WHEREAS, the Philippines, through the Athletic Softball Association of the Philippines, will host the 2nd Asian Men and 3rd Asian Women’s Softball Championships at the Rodriguez Sports Center, Marikina, Rizal, from March 16 to 24, 1974; and WHEREAS, it is desirable, for the country’s prestige, to measure up to the expectations of the participating nations in terms of facilities, accommodations and other amenities incident to the tournament; NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Athletic Softball Association of the Philippines, to conduct a fund drive from the period February 1 to March 15, 1971, to ensure the success of the tournament, and designate the period March 18 to 24, 1974, as Softball Week.
