[ Proclamation No. 1226, January 26, 1974 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 27 TO FEBRUARY 2, 1974, AS “GRADUATE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH WEEK”.

WHEREAS, one of the primordial objectives of the New Society is the acceleration of social and economic progress;

WHEREAS, social and economic progress depend, to a large extent, upon the application of functional research;

WHEREAS, there exists a direct relationship between functional research and the state of graduate education in the country; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative to focus attention on problems of graduate education and functional research in this country and the need to improve the standards and quality of graduate education, and research in general;

NOW THEREFORE, I ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from January 27 to February 2, 1974, as “GRADUATE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH WEEK” under the auspices of the Philippine Association for Graduate Education.
