MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Proclamation No. 1224, January 22, 1974 ] DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 20 TO 26, 1974, AS NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK. WHEREAS, today’s youth, realizing the changes for the better wrought under the New Society, clamor for more participation in nation-building and in the formation of a mature, responsible and upright citizenry that should go with a developing nation; and WHEREAS, they are now willing to share in the collective effort to bring about a society that is compassionate, relevant, and strong; NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from January 20 to 26, 1974, as National Youth Week. I call upon all the young citizens of the Philippines to spearhead activities and projects contributing to national development and present a united force in coordination with Government efforts to build .a stronger society. In order to insure the success of the occasion, an Executive Committee is hereby created to be Chairmanned by the Secretary of Education and Culture and composed of such members as may be designated by him.1aшphi1 The Committee shall initiate and implement all measures as may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of this Proclamation.
