[ Proclamation No. 1213, December 4, 1973 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD DECEMBER 9-15 1973, AS SAVINGS AND LOAN WEEK

WHEREAS, the government is presently engaged in a massive effort towards the socio-economic upliftment of the Filipino people;

WHEREAS, this effort includes inculcation of the thrift habit among the people and the provision of adequate financing facilities for housing and extension services, and for small and medium scale industries;

WHEREAS, savings and loan associations have proven to be a very effective instrument in encouraging the thrift-savings habit especially of small savers and in providing additional credit assistance to small scale entrepreneurs, home-builders and consumers;

WHEREAS, it is desirable that the national attention be focused on the increasing role and involvement of the entire savings and loan industry towards the mobilization of domestic voluntary savings for development purposes;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period of December 9 to 15, 1973 as Savings and Loan Week and enjoin all public and private offices and institutions to encourage their personnel to participate in conferences on savings and loan activities in the interest of promoting our social development consciousness in the field of housing and wise investments.1aшphi1
