[ Proclamation No. 1189, October 10, 1973 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM DECEMBER 1 TO 31, 1973, AS NATIONAL TRADE AND INDUSTRY MONTH.

WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, as the oldest and the pioneer trade organization in the country, is observing its 70th anniversary and is preparing for a month-long round of activities to commemorate its 70 years of existence and services to the nation as well as to Filipino business and industry;

WHEREAS, among the activities the Chamber has scheduled are the holding of a trade and industry exhibit from December 1 to 31 depicting the progress of the country in the last 70 years and projecting the state of the economy another quarter of a century hence or about the year 2000;

WHEREAS, the Chamber plans to invite various trade chambers, industry chambers and associations and international trade organizations to participate in the trade exhibit and attend the other activities it has scheduled, such as conferences, symposiums and dialogues among businessmen with the Philippines’ top policymakers to acquaint our foreign visitors with the investment climate and the potential for development in this country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and in my desire to assist small-and medium-sized business and industries, do hereby proclaim the period from December 1 to 31 as National Trade and Industry Month and enjoin the public to mark 1973 as a milestone in the country’s march toward economic development.1aшphi1
