CREATING THE ANNUAL PANDAY PIRA AWARDS AND A NATIONAL COTTAGE INDUSTRY AWARDS COMMITTEE HEREINAFTER TO ADMINISTER THE CONFERMENT OF THE AWARDS UPON THOSE DESERVING THEREOF.

WHEREAS, the period from October 1 to 7 of every year has been declared Cottage Industry Week in order to focus nationwide attention on the cottage industry as a viable enterprise which helps accelerate the economic development of the country under the New Society; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to give due recognition to those who have rendered significant contribution to the development and promotion of the cottage industry of the country, and to encourage them to continue with their productive endeavors;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, and upon the recommendation of the Cottage Industry Development Enterprise (CIDE) and the National Cottage Industries Development Authority (NACIDA), do hereby create the Annual Panday Pira Awards to be conferred on outstanding cottage industry producers/entrepreneurs and/or other members of the private sector who have been actively involved in the national effort to develop and promote the cottage industry of the country. These Awards are named after the eminent Filipino of early times, who excelled in indigenous craftsmanship.

FURTHERMORE, I do hereby create a National Cottage Industry Awards Committee which shall administer the conferment of the Awards upon those deserving thereof.1aшphi1 The Committee shall be composed of representatives of the CIDE, the NACIDA and the Design Center Philippines. It shall organize itself immediately and shall prescribe the rules to guide its deliberations in the choice of the recipients of the Panday Pira Awards.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
