[ Proclamation No. 1184, September 13, 1973 ]

AUTHORIZING THE CONSUMERS UNION OF THE PHILIPPINES TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP, CONSUMERS PROTECTION AND EDUCATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 1, 1973, TO MARCH 31, 1974.

WHEREAS, our concern for the protection and education of the consumers in the Philippines demands that more efforts be devoted to support the objectives of a militant organization;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide the necessary facilities and opportunities to cultivate and promote consumerism in this country in the light of rampant unfair trade practices due to lack of adequate consumer laws; and

WHEREAS, the Consumers Union of the Philippines is dedicated to safeguard, protect the interest of the consumers, and to educate and inform the consuming public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Consumers Union of the Philippines to conduct a national membership, consumers protection and educational fund campaign during the period from October 1, 1973, to March 31, 1974. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to assist in this laudable campaign by giving generously of their means.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
