DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 8 TO 14, 1973 AS CHEMICAL ENGINEERING WEEK

WHEREAS, mankind has witnessed unprecedented advances in science and technology during the past decade;

WHEREAS, more and more chemical engineers, within the broad scope of their professional disciplines, are now counted as among the vanguards of progress that are so essential in nation-building;

WHEREAS, the role performed by chemical engineers in the furtherance of scientific and technological advancement has contributed immensely to national economic development;

WHEREAS, most industries such as those engaged in the manufacture of fertilizers, drugs, medicines, or in the refining of sugar and oil, to mention only a few, are heavily dependent on chemical engineers for profitable, well-balanced, and successful operations; and,

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that public attention should be focused on, and national appreciation be manifested for, the role performed by chemical engineers towards attaining the goals and objectives of the Government under the New Society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from July 8 to 14, 1973, as Chemical Engineering Week.
