[ Proclamation No. 1149, June 1, 1973 ]

DECLARING THE FIFTH DAY OF JUNE OF EVERY YEAR AS WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY

WHEREAS, the United Nations General Assembly has adopted Resolution No. 2994 dated December 15, 1972, declaring the fifth day of June of every year as World Environmental Day and urging governments in the United Nations System to undertake on that day activities reaffirming their concern for preservation and enhancement of environment; and

WHEREAS, the preservation, improvement and beautification of our environment is one of the major concerns of the Government;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the fifth day of June of every year as World Environment Day. I enjoin all officials and employees of the Government and call upon all residents of the country to observe the Day with activities reaffirming their concern for the preservation, improvement and beautification of our environment.1aшphi1
