[ Proclamation No. 1143, May 11, 1973 ]

DECLARING MAY 6 TO 12, 1973, AND EVERY SECOND WEEK OF MAY THEREAFTER AS NATIONAL 4-H CLUB WEEK

WHEREAS, the 4-H Club, an organization of young boys and girls from the rural areas who pledge their heads to clearer thinking, their hearts to greater loyalty, their hands to larger service and their health to better living for their club, community and country, has been found to be one of the major forces in improving the standard of living in the rural areas;

WHEREAS, through this organization thousands and thousands of boys and girls in and out of school have been developed into more useful young citizens and future leaders, thereby minimizing juvenile delinquency; and

WHEREAS, the organization has contributed to the development of native industries and farm and home skills through its project work in addition to increasing food production and bolstering rural income;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the second week of May of every year as National 4-H Club Week and designate the Bureau of Agriculture Extension to take charge of and coordinate all activities in celebration of said week. I call upon all countrymen to turn their thoughts during the week to the great service that this youth organization is doing for our country and extend their cooperation and support to this movement.1aшphi1

This proclamation supersedes Proclamation No. 196 dated May 1, 1967.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
