DECLARING THE THIRD WEEK OF APRIL 1972 AS
PEST CONTROL WEEK
WHEREAS, pest damage on agricultural crops, forest and forest products, stored grains, wooden structures and domestic properties is of such economic magnitude that it adversely affects the country’s economy;
WHEREAS, the need for effective control of these pests such as insects, rodents, plant pathogens, weeds, etc., must be a continuing concern of research scientists and technologists, as well as pest control operators and pesticide companies; and Whereas, it is desirable that national attention be focused on the need for wider utilization of the current
advances in pest control science and technology for the benefit of our national economy;
Now, therefore, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the third week of April 1972 as Pest Control Week and enjoin all public and private offices and institutions to encourage and grant official sanction to their personnel concerned to attend and participate in national pest control conferences in the interest of pest control science and technology.
