[ Proclamation No. 916, October 8, 1971 ]

DECLARING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1971, AS a SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY.

WHEREAS, the last day for registration of voters as provided in Republic Act No. 6388, otherwise known as the Election Code of 1971, falls on Saturday, October 9, 1971; and

WHEREAS, in the public interest October 9, 1971, may be declared a special public holiday to give unregistered voters the opportunity to exercise their rights of suffrage in the coming elections;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, October 9, 1971, as a special public holiday.1aшphi1
