DECLARING 1972 AS PHILIPPINE NURSING GOLDEN JUBILEE YEAR.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), the only nurses’ organization in the Philippines affiliated with the International Council of Nurses, was organized in 1922;

WHEREAS, since its inception, the PNA has demonstrated its value as an instrument for the promotion of optimum health among the Filipino people through dedicated nursing services in hospitals and in the community, particularly in the rural areas; and

WHEREAS, the PNA is engaged in a long-term project of setting higher standards in nursing education and in the nursing profession to meet the needs of our people;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the year 1972 Philippine Nursing Golden Jubilee Year under the auspices of the Philippine Nurses Association.
