[ Proclamation No. 883, August 2, 1971 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 1 TO 7 OF EVERY YEAR AS FAMILY PLANNING WEEK

WHEREAS, one of the gravest problems facing the country today is its rapid population growth;

WHEREAS, one of the solutions to the problem of rapid population growth is long-range population education and family planning programs; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to arouse every citizen to the seriousness of the problem and the solutions presented by population education and family planning;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from August 1 to 7 of every year as Family Planning Week, designating the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines and the Population Commission to coordinate all publicity and promotional efforts necessary therefore, and enjoining all agencies, institutions and organizations, both public and private, to extend assistance and cooperation for the successful observance of the week.
