DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 24 TO 30, 1971, AS “RURAL BANK WEEK.”

WHEREAS, the Government recognizes that the improvement of the rural economy is vital to national growth and development;

WHEREAS, rural banks all over the archipelago have effectively assisted in the socio-economic expansion of the rural areas; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper to dedicate a period to focus attention on the vital role of rural banks in the development of the national economy;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, in recognition of the active role of the rural banking system in nation-building, do hereby declare the period from May 24 to 30, 1971, as “RURAL BANK WEEK” under the joint auspices of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines and the Central Bank of the Philippines.
