DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 24 TO 30 OF EVERY YEAR AS “HISTORY WEEK.”
WHEREAS, the Fifth Triennial Conference of the International Association of Historians of Asia will be held in Manila on May 24 to 29, 1971;
WHEREAS, the period coincides with the 4th centenary of the founding of Manila; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to focus attention on the auspicious event and to the historical and cultural heritage of our country;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FLORES BAYOT, Acting Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from May 24 to 30 of every year as “History Week” under the auspices of the National Historical Commission and the National Museum.
