[ Proclamation No. 802, February 1, 1971 ]

AUTHORIZING THE MANILA IV CENTENNIAL COMMISSION TO CONDUCT a NATIONWIDE FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 1 TO JULY 31, 1971.

WHEREAS, the Manila IV Centennial Commission is a body duly organized by virtue of Executive Order No. 31, series of 1968, of the Mayor of Manila with the task of coordinating the planning and implementation of different projects and/or activities designed to commemorate the quadricentennial anniversary of the founding of Manila as a Christian city;

WHEREAS, this historic and significant occasion will be commemorated with a year-long celebration that would bring into focus a comprehensive picture of the city’s development and growth since its foundation;

WHEREAS, the quadricentennial celebration is expected to boost the country’s tourist industry and international prestige; and

WHEREAS, in order to effectively carry out its laudable objective, the Manila IV Centennial Commission needs the financial and moral support of the public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Manila IV Centennial Commission to conduct a nationwide fund campaign during the period from February 1 to July 31, 1971. I call upon all citizens and residents of the country, irrespective of nationality, race or creed, to assist in this endeavor by giving generously of their means and to actively support the campaign.
