[ Proclamation No. 789, December 21, 1970 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE AMATEUR ATHLETIC FEDERATION TO CONDUCT A NATIONWIDE EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN FROM JANUARY 1 TO JUNE 30, 1971.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation (PAAF), charged with the all-important task of promoting and developing sports in the country and presently the mother-organization of nineteen national sports association, is hobbled in the realization of its objectives by dearth of funds;

WHEREAS, the Philippines being a participant in all world Olympic Games is again committed to participate in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games; and

WHEREAS, in order to enable the PAAF to undertake its objective of training and developing Filipino athletes and also to prepare them for future international competitions, the Federation is embarking on a nation-wide fund campaign for the above-mentioned purposes;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation to conduct a nation-wide educational and fund campaign, from January 1 to June 30, 1971, I call on all citizens and residents of the Philippines to give generously of their means so that we may all help in the PAAF’s objective of bringing honor and prestige to the Philippines and the Filipino Nation through sports.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
