[ Proclamation No. 704, June 16, 1970 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE AMATEUR ATHLETIC FEDERATION TO CONDUCT A NATIONWIDE EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN FROM JULY 16 TO DECEMBER 31, 1970.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation (PAAF), charged with the all-important task of promoting and developing sports in the country and presently, the mother-organization of nineteen National Sports Associations, is hobbled in the realization of its objectives by dearth of funds;

WHEREAS, the Philippines being a Charter Member of the Asian Games Federation, is committed to participate in the Sixth Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 9 to 20, 1970; and

WHEREAS, in order to enable the PAAF to undertake its objective of training and developing Filipino athletes for the Bangkok Asian Games, the Federation is embarking on a nation-wide fund campaign for the purpose;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation to conduct a nation-wide educational and fund campaign from July 16 to December 31. 1970. I call on all citizens and residents of the Philippines to give generously of their means so that we may all help in the PAAF’s objective of bringing honor and prestige to the Philippines and the Filipino Nation through sports.1aшphi1
