DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 24 TO MAY 30, 1970 AS “RURAL BANK WEEK”

WHEREAS, the government recognizes that the improvement of the rural economy is vital to national growth and development;

WHEREAS, rural banks all over the archipelago have effectively assisted in the socio-economic expansion of the rural sector; and

WHEREAS, to underscore the function of the rural banking system in contributing to the economic progress of our country, the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines in joint sponsorship with the Central Bank of the Philippines, will conduct its annual convention of rural, bankers on the theme “Improved Rural Economy By Encouraging and Financing Producers’ and Marketing Cooperatives Through the Supervised Credit Operations of Rural Banks” from May 24 to May SO, 1970;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, in recognition of the active role of the rural banking system in nation-building, do hereby declare the period from May 24 to May 30, 1970, as “RURAL BANK WEEK” under the auspices of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines and the Central Bank of the Philippines.1aшphi1
