[ Proclamation No. 593, August 7, 1969 ]
AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE TUBERCULOSIS SOCIETY, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 19 TO DECEMBER 31, 1969.
WHEREAS, despite the advancement of medical science, tuberculosis a disease of ancient history still accounts for 25.000 deaths annually for the past five years in the Philippines;
WHEREAS, the ravages of the White Plague on Filipino manpower should be curtailed further to accelerate the nation’s social and economic amelioration program;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. performs a unique public service by consistently cooperating with the National Government in the prevention and control of tuberculosis; and
WHEREAS, the Society can only continue its humanitarian mission through massive moral and financial assistance of the entire population;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. to conduct its national educational and fund campaign during the period from August 19 to December 31, 1969.
I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to give generously of their means and energy so as to; enhance the public health and hasten the social uplift and economic progress of the masses. I authorize all national, provincial, city, and municipal officials to participate actively in this charitable endeavor by lending it their utmost support and cooperation.1aшphi1
