[ Proclamation No. 551, April 28, 1969 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, MAY 2, 1969, AS ABAD SANTOS DAY AND A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN PAMPANGA AND ANGELES CITY.

WHEREAS, the anniversary of the execution of Jose Abad Santos, jurist, patriot and martyr, falls on May 2, 1969, and

WHEREAS, his martyrdom will remain forever as an inspiring symbol of the purest ideals of the Filipino people;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday, May 2, 1969, as Abad Santos Day and a special public holiday in Pampanga and in the city of Angeles.
