[ Proclamation No. 524, February 22, 1969 ]

DECLARING MONDAY MARCH 10, 1969, AS SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF ORIENTAL AND OCCIDENTAL MINDORO.

WHEREAS, March 10, 1969, marks the centenary of the birth of Don Macario Adriatico y Gonzales, parliamentarian and statesman, and the first representative to the Philippine Assembly for Mindoro;

WHEREAS, Don Macario Adriatico has earned for himself and his province distinctions not only in statesmanship and parliamentary practice, but also in letters, philosophy and law practices;

WHEREAS, to Don Macario Adriatico, we also owe a distinguished brand of idealism and devotion to duty which made him one of the pillars of our independence movement together with other great names in our country’s history; and

WHEREAS, the people of Mindoro should be given full opportunity to celebrate his birthday with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, March 10, 1969, as special public holiday in the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.1aшphi1
