BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

[ Proclamation No. 494, December 16, 1968 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE CANCER SOCIETY, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL, MEMBERSHIP AND FUND DRIVE DURING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1 TO MARCH 31, 1969.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., having successfully pioneered and spearheaded the move towards the prevention and control of cancer, established this year the National Central Tumor Registry of the Philippines in order to make it more effective its three-point cancer control program;

WHEREAS, since its organization 11 years ago, the society has served more than 60,000 patients by giving free medical and educational services, and due to these services, there is a constant rise in the number of persons from all over the Philippines seeking the services of the Society;

WHEREAS, to further effect its cancer control program, the Society has for this year scheduled a more vigorous educational campaign and research on cancer; and

WHEREAS, to carry on further its humanitarian work to a greater scope of operation, it needs the continued support and cooperation of the public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., to conduct a national educational, membership and fund drive from January 1 to March 31, 1969. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality, race or creed, to assist in this humanitarian endeavor by giving generously of their means.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
