[ Proclamation No. 470, October 1, 1968 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM DECEMBER 8 TO 14, 1968, AS RECREATION WEEK.

WHEREAS, recreation is deeply ingrained in the makeup of man and his physical and mental health depends on it;

WHEREAS, man does not live on the technology and economic prosperity of a civilization alone but requires occasions for self-awareness and for human engagements;

WHEREAS, the proper pursuit of healthful recreational activities leads to the conservation and improvement of national parks and grounds and recreational facilities; and

WHEREAS, a week should be dedicated in arousing greater concern for the people’s welfare through worthwhile leisure activities for all age;

NOW, THEREFORE, I FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from December 8 to 14, 1968, as Recreation Week under the auspices of all entities involved.
