[ Proclamation No. 401, May 23, 1968 ]

DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE PROVINCES OF ALBAY, A CAMARINES NORTE, CAMARINES SUR, CATANDUANES, SORSOGON AND THE TOWNS AND CITIES THEREIN.

WHEREAS, the eruption of the Mayon Volcano in the latter part of April this year have caused untold suffering and rendered homeless a great number of families, mostly from the low income group;

NOW, THEREFORE, I FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by Section 105 (v) of Republic Act No. 1937, do hereby declare that a state of emergency exists in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camaraines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon and the cities and towns therein for a period of one year effective from this date.

I enjoin all government and civic relief and welfare agencies and organizations to extend all possible assistance to Mayon Volcano victims and distressed individuals.1aшphi1
