MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Proclamation No. 340, February 7, 1968 ] AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 332 DATED JANUARY 17, 1958, ON THE HOLDING OF SPECIAL ELECTION IN BUTIG, LANAO DEL SUR. WHEREAS, under Proclamation No. 332 dated January 19, 1960, the holding of a special election in Butig, Lanao del Sur, has been scheduled for February 20, 1968, in view of the failure of the regular elections to take place in said municipality on November 14, 1967, due to the unfavorable peace and order condition prevailing therein which prevented the delivery of the official ballots and other election supplies to the respective polling places; WHEREAS, the commission on elections, in its resolution dated January, 29, 1968, recommends that the election be reset for another date, preferable March 19, 1968, considering that the copy of the Proclamation was received only on January 25, 1968, or 26 days to February 20, 1968; and that under Section 36 of the Revised Election Code in case of special election the certificate of candidacy shall be file 30 days at lease before the special election so that in the instant case the candidates cannot file their certificates of candidacy within the period authorized by law; and WHEREAS, it is essential and important that the people in said municipality be afforded the opportunity to elect their own local officials; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend the third paragraph of Proclamation No. 332, dated January 19, 1968, to read as follows: “NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, and pursuant to the provisions of Sections 21 (c) and 22 of the Revised Election Code, do hereby call a special election in Butig, Lanao del Sur, to be held on March 19, 1968, for municipal offices.” IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.1aшphi1 Done in the City of Manila, this 7th day of February , in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-eight.
