[ Proclamation No. 271, October 3, 1967 ]

SETTING ASIDE DECEMBER SIXTEENTH OF EVERY YEAR FOR THE NATIONAL SPORTS AND PHYSICAL FITNESS FESTIVAL.

WHEREAS, a public awareness of the value of physical fitness and a systematic and nation-wide promotion of sports are imperative if the Philippines is to keep up with the world standards in sports competitions; and

WHEREAS, the holding of a national sports and physical fitness festival involving as many segments of the community and sports as possible would be a fitting occasion to honor the country’s outstanding athletes;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby set aside December 16th of every year for the National Sports and Physical Fitness Festival. The Department of Education with the active assistance of government agencies concerned particularly the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are hereby authorized to create a national committee and such regional committees as they may deem necessary to involve as many segments of the community and sports events as possible and to ensure the success of the Festival.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
