[ Proclamation No. 249, August 21, 1967 ]

CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL THE EXISTING VACANCY IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives through its Resolution No. 28 adopted on May 18, 1967, has notified the President of the Philippines of the existence of a vacancy for the office of member for the first representative district of the Province of Ilocos Norte and requested him to call a special election to fill said vacancy;

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority conferred upon me by Section 20 of the Revised Election Code (Rep. Act No. 180, as amended), I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim and call a special election for the purpose of electing a member of the House of Representatives to fill the unexpired portion of the vacancy in the 1st district of the Province of Ilocos Norte, which election shall take place on Tuesday, the 14th day of November 1967, to coincide with the general elections for provincial, city and municipal officials and for eight senators.

The provisions of the Revised Election Code insofar as they are applicable shall be followed in the conduct of the election herein called.1aшphi1
