[ Proclamation No. 204, May 22, 1967 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE AMATEUR SWIMMING ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 16 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1967.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) has among its objectives the encouragement of swimming as a sport, the establishment of swimming centers and the development of athletes for international competition;

WHEREAS, it has been observed that every time regional interscholastic meets are conducted, swimming is generally excluded in the sports events because of the absence of adequate swimming facilities in most provincial capitals and chartered cities;

WHEREAS, in order to implement its objectives, the PASA plans to construct swimming pools equipped with latest facilities necessary to train and develop swimmers and coaches in Greater Manila and in other areas as may be designated by the PASA National Committee; and

WHEREAS, in order to finance the construction, operation and maintenance expenses of these community swimming pools, an educational and fund campaign is necessary;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association to conduct a national education and fund campaign during the period from May 16, 1967 to September 30, 1967. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to assist in this drive by giving generously of their means, so that we may help in the early realization of the various objectives of the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association.
