[ Proclamation No. 189, April 1, 1967 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 1 TO APRIL 7, 1967, AS NATIONAL MUSIC WEEK.

WHEREAS, music as a common cultural heritage has contributed immensely to the cultural progress of the country;

WHEREAS, the National Music Council of the Philippines has been instrumental in the promotion of musical activities for the purpose of creating awareness of and appreciation for good music among our people; and

WHEREAS, it is desirable to continue inculcating in the minds of our young and adults the importance of music as a necessary factor in a country’s cultural development;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 1 to April 7, 1967, as National Music Week under the auspices of the National Music Council of the Philippines;

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines to extend their assistance and cooperation for the success of the celebration.1aшphi1
