[ Proclamation No. 140, January 26, 1967 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, JANUARY 27, 1967, AND EVERY LAST FRIDAY OF JANUARY OF EACH YEAR AS TEACHERS DAY.

WHEREAS, teachers play a vital role in imparting knowledge to, and instilling character among, our youth; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting that a day be set aside to honor them for their services to the country and to the people;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday, January 27, 1967, and every last Friday of January of each year thereafter as Teachers Day under the auspices of the Department of Education.
