[ Proclamation No. 137, January 13, 1967 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE CANCER SOCIETY, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL, MEMBERSHIP AND FUND DRIVE DURING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1 TO MARCH 31, 1967.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., has successfully pioneered and spearheaded the move towards the prevention and control of cancer, one of the top killer-diseases in the country, through its three-point cancer control program;

WHEREAS, since its organization nine years ago the Society has served more than 44,000 patients by giving free medical services, disseminating information on the disease and conducting researches in the field of cancer; and

WHEREAS, to carry on further its humanitarian work on a greater scope of operation, it needs the continued support and cooperation of the public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., to conduct a national educational, membership and fund campaign from January 1 to March 31, 1967. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality, race or creed, to assist in this humanitarian endeavor by giving generously of their means. I also authorize all national and local officials and employees, school officials and students to lend their full support and cooperation to the campaign.
