[ Proclamation No. 55, July 28, 1966 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE TUBERCULOSIS SOCIETY, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND AND EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 19 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1966.

WHEREAS, tuberculosis continues to claim thousands of human lives, thereby decimating precious manpower urgently needed in strengthening the national economy;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., has for the past 56 years actively supported the Government’s relentless fight against this pernicious disease; and

WHEREAS, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., can continue rendering its vital health services to the masses only with the moral and financial support it receives from the rank and file of our citizenry;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc., to conduct its National Fund and Educational Campaign during the period from August 19 to September 30, 1966. I call upon all citizens and resident of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to give generously of their means so that we may protect ourselves and our children from a dreadful disease. I authorize all government officials and employees, particularly treasurers of provincial, city and municipal governments, as well as public and private school officials, to accept fund-raising responsibilities for the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc.
