DECLARING 1966 AS PHILIPPINE-CHINA FRIENDSHIP YEAR.

WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of China having long been associated in history by cultural and economic ties by reason of which the peoples of the Philippines and of China have enjoyed, through the centuries, a long standing friendship;

WHEREAS, citizens of both countries from the cultural, social and economic groups residing in the Philippines, recognizing these undeniable ties have already formed a Philippines-China Friendship Association;

WHEREAS, it is now the desire of both countries to further strengthen their close relationship, through more effective ways, so that both countries may mutually share their experiences and better meet the challenges of an everchanging world;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the remainder of the year 1966 from March 25, as the Philippine-China Friendship Year.
