[ Proclamation No. 21, March 14, 1966 ]

DECLARING MARCH 18, 1966, AS “LIBERATION DAY” FOR THE ISLAND OF PANAY.

WHEREAS, March 18, 1966, marks the 21st anniversary of the landing of American liberation forces on the island of Panay at Tigbauan Beach, Iloilo; and

WHEREAS, the people of Panay should be afforded an opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare March 18, 1966, as “Liberation Day” for the Island of Panay.
